Title: Kate Withdrawal
Rating: Hmm...PG-13 'cause I dropped the F-bomb
Summary: He missed glancing up sometimes and seeing her hovering above him, waiting to ask him to embark on some hunt or rescue mission.
Word Count: 376
Notes: Spoilers from the last episode.
He really missed her since she'd gone on the kamikaze mission for Jack. He missed her smile, her touch, and he really missed the warmth that seemed to radiate from her when she's happy. Since they were with the Others she hadn't glanced over at him and given him quick, discreet smiles like they shared some secret while talking to Hurley or Sayid or...anyone, really.
He missed glancing up sometimes and seeing her hovering above him, waiting to ask him to embark on some hunt or rescue mission.
He missed seeing her with Jack and feeling that pit at the bottom of his stomach, like she had found some new Sawyer. That feeling that he wanted to run over and rescue her from whatever dull conversation her and the Doc were having.
And another thing- he missed how she'd always smile or even laugh lightly when he'd give someone a nickname or say something clever. It made him want to save all his nicknames and cleverness for when she's around.
He missed looking at her and wishing she'd come over and talk to him and then thinking, "Fuck, I am so screwed."
And then there are the times when he'd stride over and sit next to her on the beach, not saying a word. It seemed as if the sound of the waves was enough.
He missed the times when he had hatch duty and she'd come and say hi so non-chalantly.
He wished he could see her right now, know where she was, know if she was ok, know if she was with the Doc (he certainly hoped not), and know if she missed him as much as he was missing her.
He wished she'd come out of the forest this minute and smile and wave and walk over painfully slow to tell him how her Mission Impossible went.
And he had that feeling in his gut that she wasn't ok. He had a feeling that she was in trouble. Or she'd been caught.
He missed knowing she was safe, too. When he could take a quick glance around the camp and see her talking to Hurley (or the Doc) and know that she was fine.
Of all the things, he really missed Kate.
Those few people on my f-list: I added onto the version of this I posted. So yeah.

I love this. Are you going to do more of the Others!fic you were doing?
Thanks, and I'm not sure about my Others!fic. I know Others!fic is the most goddamn fun thing to write because I love the creepiness, so I know I'll be writing Others!fic in general, but I'm not sure about continuing the story. Most of the stuff has been proven wrong in one way or another anyway. XD
So maybe I could just write, "And then the world blew up because the button wasn't pushed, in like, a long time. Because it got blowed up. FIN."
LMAO , sounds good.
Sounds like a daytime soap opera.

I'd totally watch those, too.
Ha, well you're writing it.... so...
Ok, ok! I'll write some more. But I'm gonna go with Ben flashbacks.
Sawyer is missing Kate, and more importantly, is worried about her - that says a lot about his emotional growth since he has been on the island. I hope to read more of your Skate work in the future.
And thanks again. :-)
And thanks.
I'm a Jater too, but it's plain clear to me that there are deep feelings between Sawyer and Kate. For me, they work better as friends; I've seen some Skaters feel that way about Jate, and that's all ok. The truth is, Kate has feelings for both of them, and becoming a Jater or a Skater or neither depends more on our personal views of the characters, how they affect us and such. (That kind of discussion that never ends. You probably know what I mean. :D)
And I also miss A LOT the little flirts going on between Sawyer and Kate. I think they lost that part of their relationship after the cage!sex, and it's really sad (I swear: that's my main problem with that scene, not the fact that I'm a Jater!).
Anyway! Your fic is really good. Sawyer is an amazing character and one can see that Kate going into the jungle without a second thought has hurt him badly. But since I love Sawyer's interaction with Jack as well, I just want everyone to be reunited and have a threesome. XD
I see what you mean, because I'm totally fine with a Jack/Kate friendship, I just don't care for them as a couple. *shrug*
That's totally what inspired me to write it. I wish they'd still flirt like that.
Thanks you! I totally agree with what you said. That's one of the reasons I love LOST. All the characters have their own stories and they have their flaws and are amazing. Not just Sawyer. Some shows the character is a perfect rich girl who never has any problems and life just sails along.
Maybe they all should just have a threesome, like you said. That'd make the Jater and Skate-rs (lol) happy.
About the Jate/Skate thing: Even being a Skater by heart, I'm able to recognize (and enjoy) a good Jate scene like the one from the last episode.
[Or maybe I share some flip-flop issues with Kate, LOL]
I think the Jate/Skate debate is kind of overplayed. I wouldn't mind if Kate ended up with Jack (of course I'd be disappointed, a little) and I wouldn't mind if she wound up with Sawyer. Just as long as she winds up with SOMEONE.
I do have the feeling that Jack/Juliet is going to let Kate/Sawyer play itself out, with some minor Jack/Kate, and then Jack and Kate are going to end up together. Even though I don't care for Jack/Kate so much, I think that's what's gonna go down.
Jate/Skate thing? Definitely overplayed. I'm a Skater and one of my best friends is a Jater (the other goes for Jacket) and we get along really fine, teasing each other about our ships. Why can't everyone do the same? :)
I'd be disappointed if Kate ended up with Jack, but I know her well enough to understand her choice. Anyway, either with Doc or Sawyer, it probably wouldn't last: she's not a long-term relationship kind of girl.
I don't know. Theoretically your rationale is perfect, but Kate went all PMS with Sawyer after the cage!sex. Can't help the feeling that she's gonna end up all alone - specially if they happen to be rescued. Then, she would go from the island straight to jail. Sad but true.
I'd be sort of sad, too. But I have to disagree with you when you say she's not a long-term relationship girl: she had gotten married to that guy, and she seemed really sad when she left him. Especially when she found out she wasn't preggers.
I have a feeling that she's pregnant. It would be kind of ironic, and it would explain why she's avoiding Sawyer. (other than the fact that it'd be awkward talking to him) And I can't help but wonder what would happen if they would get rescued. Locke, Kate, and I'll bet quite a few other people wouldn't really want to leave.
My point about the marriage is that she was playing a character named Monica and the preg test being negative just woke her up. Therefore, "I don't do taco nights" means "That's not the real me, sorry". Of course she loved Kevin, but he loved Monica (the WYSIWYG girl) not Kate, the girl with too many secrets.
So, Kate told him the truth because she almost started a family based on a lie. Being from a family based on a lie (about who her real father was), it makes sense to prevent the cycle from repeating itself.
The idea of her being pregnant now makes me roll my eyes. Yes, it would explain her strange behavior with Sawyer, but it's too soap-operish for me :D
Oh, and I believe she wants to leave the island. Just to be back on the run again. ;)
